A root canal consists
in the extraction of the nerve of the tooth. It is
necessary when tooth is severe damaged for decay or
traumas due to fractures or over pressure in our
teeth. This causes that the root become weak and the
tooth very sensitive.
The Endodontist will
extract the nerves and clean the conducts in order
to leave the area very clean, after that, the cavity
will be filled with a plastic material and a special
cement in order to seal the tooth conducts.
A fiberglass post is
necessary after the root canal to reinforce the
tooth and then a crown is recommended. In some
cases, the natural tooth can be saved after the root
canal and filled with resin filling to close the
cavity. |
